Good morning All. I would like to inform you that all 7th grade Career Discovery students will be participating in a end of unit Interview project. For this project students will use interview skills learned in class in an actual job interview. Each student will be given a rubric and will be graded accordingly. Students will be mandated to dress in appropriate business attire for their interview as it will be part of the rubric used to grade their projects. Great afternoon and Happy Black History Month. In observance of BHM all 7th Grade Career Discovery Students will be completing a in class HBCU (Historically Black College/University) research project. Each students has bee assigned an HBCU to research. The project consist of two parts. Part 1 will simply be finding generic information about their HBCU. Part 2 will be designing a poster to represent their college or university. Each student will need to bring in a poster board (white) on Monday, February 12, 2018. This week in Career Discovery students will be introduced to classroom rituals and routines while also reviewing school-wide PBIS standards. Also, course syllabus will be sent home on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Please be sure to review class requirements with students. All class materials are expected to be present in class no later than Monday, January 8, 2018 along with a signed syllabus. Lets make this a AWESOME semester.

Details
The goal of this course is to promote essential skills and knowledge students need to apply self-assessments and decision-making skills while examining career concentrations and pathways. This course will expose students to positive work ethics, the importance of educational achievement, and the impact of societal issues on career choices. These essential components are necessary for educational and career planning success.
In this course, middle school 7th grade students will gain an understanding of career program concentrations and career pathways offerings in Georgia. Students will develop insight in how educational performance enhances career opportunities. Also, students will be exposed to work ethics and societal issues as they relate to educational and career goals. |
